This was another thought on the way home from the gym. That's when I have the best thoughts ever, by the way, after a monster workout. This thought came courtesy of listening to my cell phone voicemail. Who ever is so lucky to have 10 or 12 messages of pure love? ME, that's who! It started out with one of my sisters telling me that my niece put me, Tod, Ian and Dylan in her family drawing at school and left her and her father out. How cute is that?! I LOVE these kids as if they were my own and I guess they feel the same about us. Sweetness! And then my other sister, whom I talk to just about every day, and then Tod, and then friends who are committed to my joy and dreams and growth as a person, and then business associates I am actually great friends with and with whom I love working every single day, etc. etc. You get the picture.I am loved. How fabulously fortunate! :-) :-) :-)
I think that when there are chaos in your life, that's merely a sign that you need to grow. That thought just popped into my head on my way back from the gym today (Wed). I'm not sure why. I think it was the general area I was driving in. It's not the best area in town. My theory is this: I don't think chaos means you're disconnected from the source of it all (you never are), only that you're distracted. The chaos are a sign you're not on the right track, a way to get your attention and awareness back. In this area, there's crime, drugs, dropouts and worse: no sense of self and poverty of the mind above all else. When you have no sense of self, you have no pride and when you have no pride, you have no rich or higher thoughts because you're apathetic, you don't care. That's not to say that lack of higher thoughts is the only reason for the poverty and all that there but it certainly contributes, in my opinion, and is actually the main reason for having a poor quality of life (chaos). As a community, what and how people are thinking about and spending their "mind time" (as I call it) on there obviously needs to change if they are ever to outgrow the chaos of their existence. Same with anyone, really. You want a great life, you have to be rich in thought, habit, passion, commitment. And when chaos show up (because they still will), you take notice and don't hang out there and curse the universe. You consciously grow yourself to the next level by making new choices and taking new actions in the direction you wish to be. Like a boxer backed into the corner of the ring, you have 3 options: you stand there and take a beating, you crouch down and cover yourself or you work (punch) yourself out of that corner. As in life: you stand there and take a beating (daily life for most people), you crouch down and cover yourself (you give up, get depressed, give up your dreams, drink or do drugs to get through the day, go into denial and/or crazy), or you work (punch) yourself out of that corner (you deal with life on your terms, you deal with life powerfully, you grow). I'm for option # 3. :-) I believe chaos are part of it all, part of life, part of the journey, part of the "fight," if you will, but, as soon as I see them, I don't take them lying down. When that bell sounds, honey, it's on! When it's time to grow, I come out proudly swinging for my potential. I'd like to teach people to do that.
I heard this in a movie yesterday and it reminded me of when it's been said to me. I had to laugh because I saw that people say those sorts of things because it's the easiest way to shoot the other person down - especially when they have a very valid point, view or observation - without having to prove it. The movie, by the way, is Freedom Writers, a true-story with Hilary Swank and Patrick Dempsey, and it's just AWESOME! So, so inspiring. In my opinion, qualifications are at most preferable in many cases, especially such cases as medical conditions, legal situations and the like. In most other stuff though, especially matters of humanity and the heart, being human is usually qualification enough. Who needs a law degree to see life clearly or to care or to say "I love you" or to want to make a difference for another? No one, that's who. That qualification is inherent in being and, especially, in a good heart and since I believe most people are good, that makes the majority of people, in my opinion, more than qualified.
It has rained and rained and rained around here all week. Don't get me wrong, I love rain but it's fast getting old! :-)
