There's A First Time For Everything!

You Won eBay Item: BRAND NEW SET OF 8 MCDONALDS TOYS LEGION OF SUPER HEROES. Yay! I got up 14 minutes prior to the end of bidding time just to bid on these tonight after watching this auction for a few days. They're for Ian, of course, who is suddenly into collections.

I've never bid on eBay, actually, although I've been a member and had an account for ever with them ... it was cool! I think now I'll finally go ahead and put a bunch of stuff on there I've been wanting to sell. I'll let you all know how it goes. I know this will go over really well, though. :-)

Wake Up Calls

Yesterday morning I was woken up by the loudest sound I have ever heard. It was about 7:15 AM and I was actually up already and just laying in bed with the boys. Ian had come in at 7:09 saying "Mom, it's 7, you have to wake up!" which he says because I tell him that's the time we have to get up to get him to school on time, without rushing. So cute that boy! He LOVES school.

Anyway, neither of them got scared by the sound. Ian just said "Mommy, what was that?!" and Dylan, who was nursing, sat right up, bolting up like a Pop Tart coming out of a toaster, and just started jabbering away which he does all the time now the moment he wakes up. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. He just swears he is telling me something ... and he is except he doesn't talk fully yet so I can't understand him. It's SO darn cute though!

As for me, my heart actually skipped a beat because it was SO phenomenally loud. So, what was it? Lightning! But not like any I had ever heard before. It was like a bomb went off (I imagine that's how it sounds, anyway) and I told Tod, who was standing there ready to head out for work, "Honey, that must have hit something really close, right here on the farm even, for sure."

Well, guess what? I was right. One of the telephone poles outside took a direct hit. I knew it! Trust me, you'd have known it too. It was INCREDIBLE the sound, so, so jarring! I thought "wow, people who get hit by lightning ... that's just crazy! If the sound is like that, I can't imagine what the shock of electricity must feel like."

Aside from the sound, I'll tell you something else - this house lit up like a Christmas tree! It was like when the shuttle does a night launch and the whole city lights up as if it was daytime. Just amazing. And the TV in our bedroom turned on and off, all by itself, too. Mother Nature never ceases to amaze me with her power. She can make you feel like such a small, insignificant fool. Incredible.

Then this morning, a wake up call of another kind. This one was the other extreme ... the faint sound of a train in the distance (we have a railroad track close by).

Again, I was actually already up. Dyllie had woken up at 5:11 (a wake up call in itself) :-) and I nursed him and put him back down and decided to just get up and get going with the day. That's when I came into the kitchen and heard the train.

A little later, at 7, it was a "normal" wake up call ... Ian's SpongeBob alarm clock going off in his room. It's so sweet that he makes me turn it on every night. And I'll tell you what, I don't mind any of these wake up calls at all whatsoever because I just love mornings and I love waking up ... especially around here.
